Paper Plates

Product designer Virginia Sin has created a collection of reusable ceramic paper plates. The concept was inspired by the low quality paper plates commonly available in stores.

The plates were made using actual paper plates to make the molds and shredded pieces were mixed into the clay. Once fired, the paper burns off and the plates become as light as the real thing. The end result is then glazed all around, making them microwave and dishwasher safe. Each piece is unique.

The price? Oh, is just $85 dollars for one (yes 1) 12” x 12” plate… hey, at least these ‘paper plates’ can be rewashed and reused.
