World’s Largest Swimming Pool

Recently, the Guinness Book of Records recognized this pool as the world’s largest and biggest. It’s located at the Hotel San Alfonso del Mar in Chile. This absolutely immense pool or lagoon is 1 kilometer long (0.63 miles) and covers 80,000 sq. meters.

Yes, is situated right beside the beach. But the ocean in Chile has no continental shelf, which means after walking a few feet, the ocean floor plummets about 8000 feet, generating life-threatening tide pools and undertow. The main idea is for hotel guests to swim safely.

Equivalent in size to 6,000 standard domestic pools, details of its technology are to be displayed for the first time in Dubai later this month.
